Martial arts are not just about kicking and punching.  It is more about wellness, fitness, leadership, and personal growth.  Although self defense is taught in the classes it is more about the personal development.  Children who participate in Karate, become more confident and physically fit.  Karate uses both sides of the body and therefore, both sides of he brain.  Concentration is critical when learning technique, so students must listen.  Rank advancements are to promote learning and acheiving goals.  Martial arts are great for all ages, not just the young.  Don't become a "Couch Potatoe",  Stay active and healthy.  Aging is inevitable so stay healthy and enjoy life.
